PGO information
1. What is the purpose of this test?
This test gives you quick insight into your general health without requiring a referral from a doctor. It is a preventive health check and is ideal as an annual assessment or as a starting point when you would like to learn more about your health. You do not need to have symptoms to take this test.
This test does not replace a doctor and does not provide a diagnosis.
2. Is this test suitable for you?
This test is suitable for adults aged 18 and over who:
- Want to gain preventive insight into their health
- Want a broad overview of their organ function and blood values
- Want to monitor their health annually and establish a baseline
- Want quick access to health information without a referral, even when they have no symptoms
Are you taking blood-thinning medication, are you pregnant or are you receiving treatment for a serious medical condition? Please contact us first. Our medical team will help you determine whether this test is suitable for you.
3. How reliable is the test?
The test is performed by an ISO-certified laboratory using the same methods that are also used in hospitals. The results provide a reliable overview, but they always represent a snapshot in time. Food intake, medication, a recent infection and even stress may influence your blood values.
An abnormal result does not automatically mean that something is wrong. A normal result also cannot rule out every health condition. Our doctor can help you interpret the results in the correct context.
4. How is the blood sample collected?
A blood sample is taken from a vein in your arm at one of more than 1,000 blood collection locations throughout the Netherlands. The sample is collected by a healthcare professional who is officially registered and qualified under the Dutch BIG Act.
The risks are minor:
- You may experience a small bruise or mild discomfort at the puncture site. This usually disappears quickly.
- In rare cases, you may feel light-headed or dizzy. This generally passes on its own.
- The risk of infection is minimal because sterile materials and hygienic procedures are used.
Are you taking blood-thinning medication? Please inform the healthcare professional at the blood collection location beforehand.
5. What happens if a result is abnormal?
We make sure that you are never left alone with your results:
- Does a result require immediate medical follow-up? We will call you personally before the result becomes visible online.
- Do you have questions about an abnormal value? Contact our medical team. They will explain the result and discuss the most appropriate next step with you.
- Would you like to discuss your results in detail? Through our Extra Services, you can request a consultation with one of our doctors or health coaches.
We do not provide diagnoses or treatment advice. We can, however, help you identify the appropriate next step.
6. What if the test reveals something unexpected?
Because several organ systems are assessed at the same time, the test may sometimes identify an unexpected abnormality, even when you do not have any symptoms. This is known as an incidental finding. We will always inform you about this in your results. Our medical team can help you determine whether further follow-up is needed.
7. Could the results be relevant to my family?
Some of the health conditions assessed may have a hereditary component, such as familial high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes or thyroid disorders. If your results show something notable, it may be useful to discuss this with your first-degree relatives. Our medical team can advise you on this.
8. How do we handle your personal data?
Your personal and medical data are handled securely:
- Your medical data are stored for 20 years in a secure medical record at mijnuitslag.nl, as required by law.
- Only authorised employees have access.
- We do not share your data with third parties without your permission.
